Word is slowly filtering out that the Penn State Office of Judicial Affairs has dished out some punishment to Nittany Lion Brawlers. The players rumored to be expelled for the summer session are Chris Baker, Lydell Sargeant, and Jerome Hayes.
As I understand things, the players aren’t allowed back on campus until mid-August. No word on any punishment for other players.
Centre Daily’s got the poop now:
Three players — defensive tackle Christopher Baker, defensive back Lydell Sargeant and linebacker Jerome Hayes — were told Thursday that they would be expelled for the second summer semester but would be back in time for August workouts and the football season.
More than 10 other Nittany Lions were given probation but will not miss any classes, sources said, speaking on the condition of anonymity. Sources also said the Nittany Lions would be eligible to play once they serve out their temporary expulsions and begin required counseling and community service.
Players have three business days to decide whether they will accept the punishment or fight the charges in Judicial Affairs hearings, sources said.
There was no word Thursday on what would become of standout safety Anthony Scirrotto, who police said was the ringleader of nearly two dozen Nittany Lions who entered the Meridian II apartment building at 646 E. College Ave. just after midnight April 1.
