Run Up The Score

They Pull Me Back In

Stupid, worthless, choking Phillies now in second place after beating Pittsburgh, and now just 3.5 games behind the first-place Mets.  Also, they’re just 2.5 games out of the Wild Card (never too early for that, right?).

The Phillies, as an entire organization, should be preemptively hit with a negligent infliction of emotional distress lawsuit for making us watch this bullpen during a pennant race.  We’re actually trying to get to the playoffs with Jose Mesa on the roster.

Yes, I realize that he’s actually been pretty good over his last ten appearances (0-2, 2.89 ERA), but I’ve seen way too many Josa Mesa Implosions ™ to sit through the next few months without an on-call cardiologist.

I’m starting to get the feeling that you Phillies fans enjoy being abused like this regularly, otherwise you wouldn’t bitch about it quite so much.

(Not to say that said bitching isn’t entertaining.)

It’s worse than that S2N - you’d think that after the abuse Philadelphia fans take in a year-round fashion they would give up and root for someone else but it’s like they almost enjoy getting left down. Hell even horses from Philly blow it down the stretch. I almost feel sorry for them.

Yes, we just LOVE finishing two or three games out of the playoffs every year because our management goes out and gets washed up pitchers like Paul Abbott for our playoff run. They always do just enough to make the team worse next year without improving the current team enough to make a difference. Great life we’ve got here.
