Might as well get used to spelling it now: Stephen Obeng-Agyapong.
NY Daily News has a little extra information on the incoming PSU safety prospect, who hails from the same high school as Stephfon Green, Shaine Thompson, and Nerraw McCormack:
Green had reason to be happy that Obeng-Agyapong announced he was headed to Happy Valley: coaches jokingly threatened to bench the Grand Concourse product if “he didn’t get that Obeng to come here.” Needless to say, Green got his man.
Here, Obeng-Agyapong discusses his decision to pursue his college career at Penn State:
“The quality of the program and how close it was to me: when I really broke it down, Penn State was the best for me and my family.
“I think I will fit in pretty well there. Me being comfortable has to do with Stephfon and Nerraw McCormack and Shaine Thompson.
“Day in and day out before I committed, I was thinking about where I was going to go, how it was going to work out. But now it’s a little easier for me to focus, and get ready for the season.
“I’m going to play running back for the first time, so I want to stay healthy and gain at least 800 yards. I know it’s going to be tough (playing running back and safety), but I know I can make it.”
