Some quick recruiting notes:
You’ll remember that Ty Howle, a center from North Carolina, became Penn State’s first verbal committment for 2009.  A few days ago, he was joined by safety prospect Malcolm Willis from Maryland.  A few weeks ago, Willis talked about his preferences:
“Mostly, I’m looking for a school that is tops in football and academics,” [...]

Anthony Scirrotto cuts a deal with the Centre County D.A.:
Scirrotto agreed to a plea bargain with the Centre County District Attorney’s Office and pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of defiant trespass for his role in the April 1 melee at the Meridian II apartment bulding.
He was sentenced by Centre County Judge Bradley P. Lunsford [...]

As stated in the otherwise facetious “Practice Report!” post below, DT Abe Koroma was injured at practice recently. The severity of the injury is still unknown in the sense that it’s “unofficial”, but it appears to be a rather serious ankle problem.
This reduces the defensive tackle rotation to basically three guys — Jared Odrick, [...]

A handful of criminal charges against PSU safety Anthony Scirrotto have been dropped, according to WMAJ’s Joe Boland:
According to the station, Scirrotto has been cleared of charges of burglary, simple assault and criminal trespass in connection to a downtown fight that occurred April. 1. The station said Centre County Common Pleas Judge Charles Brown dismissed [...]

Maybe I’m just a bit clueless, but Dave Jones is giving Joe Paterno a little too much credit.  I’m not sure that the PSU Office of Judicial Affairs ever gave a crap about Paterno’s pre-emptive punishment, and that organization’s prior actions indicate that they wouldn’t be swayed by something as odd and conciliatory as the football [...]

Word is slowly filtering out that the Penn State Office of Judicial Affairs has dished out some punishment to Nittany Lion Brawlers. The players rumored to be expelled for the summer session are Chris Baker, Lydell Sargeant, and Jerome Hayes.
As I understand things, the players aren’t allowed back on campus until mid-August. No [...]

Penn State Elijah Robinson forced to leave team due to spinal condition.
Also, in the “I hate to say ‘I told you so’ department”, it seems that Penn State’s football team isn’t completely out of the woods yet with respect to the Spring Brawl of 2007. Interesting sidebar to that story — the Assistant D.A. [...]

If it’s Wednesday, you know it’s BWRT time. Galen from The Nittany Line wrote this week’s questions. Don’t forget to check out TNL and Black Shoe Diaries for their responses.

1. Let’s get the obligatory Nittany Lion Fight Club questions out of the way first. Admit it; you had to have [...]

Galen has an excellent discussion going about Joe Paterno’s “Grand Experiment” and whether it survives today. It’s a ultimately a battle of semantics — I personally accept a negligible amount of shenanigans for the purpose of competing in major college football — but this is the part that caught my attention:
Some have suggested [...]

We’re down to five PSU defendants, as charges against Justin King have been dropped at this morning’s preliminary hearing.
Screw this, I’m going to the Denver Zoo. Feel free to post any updates in the comments or visit The Nittany Line and Black Shoe Diaries for breaking news. Also, Fight On State actually sent [...]

Happy Wednesday Thursday, everyone! It’s a belated version of B&W Roundtable today, since I was a little preoccupied with work yesterday. Black Shoe Diaries provided this week’s questions. The Nittany Line posted his thoughts yesterday. A blogger for a semi-popular Pennsylvania news website will probably be stealing our responses, posting them [...]

Hey! Is that a subpoena in your pocket, or are you just hap…oh. That’s a subpoena.
Centre Daily Times has the poop:
Thirteen football players are among 37 people who have been subpoenaed to testify Friday at a preliminary hearing for six football players who were charged last week in connection with an April apartment [...]
